There is an alternative! Critical comics and cartoons

May 2, 2016 @ 9:00 am - July 1, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
Templeman Library, University of Kent
Canterbury, Kent CT2 7NU United Kingdom
+ Google Map

Another exhibition. Hang on, I'll just go and cut and paste the thing cos it's not like anyone reads my website for its original sparkling prose: "The works on display are commonly labelled as alternative in their respective traditions and understood as critically positioning themselves against a given mainstream (whether in comics, politics or culture). Through the displayed material, and drawing on the position of comics as an underground or marginal form, the exhibition investigates the issue of what it means to…

Hedg-u-cation Family Camp

May 30, 2016 @ 8:00 am - June 3, 2016 @ 5:00 pm

I'll be bringing the Threads exhibition and comics along to the Hedg-u-cation Festival in Devon over the Summer half term holiday. Don't expect any public speaking though (in an official capacity, because, obvs, it's hard to shut me up) because I'll mainly be kicking back and enjoying this lovely jewel of a gathering with all the kids. http://hedgeucation.org/

@cartoonkate at the Glastonbury Festival

June 22, 2016 @ 8:00 am - June 25, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
squillions, these days.

Find me in the Green Futures Field, next to the Speaker's Forum. I'll be exhibiting artwork from Red Rosa and forthcoming work from the Threads graphic novel. I'm probably doing a talk. Also, this is your only chance to buy a stabby shopping bag in person. And something about the way the beloved Pilton Pop festival has become a sell-out yuppie hedge fund managers' playground, makes me think stabby things are especially relevant.

Shambala Festival

August 25, 2016 @ 8:00 am - August 28, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
A secret location which is definitely not Kelmarsh Hall like it always is.

I'll sling an exhibition up at the Rebel Soul tent, probably, if they let me, but they usually do because they're nice like that. It'll probably be Threads.

Cartoon Kate at the Glastonbury Festival

June 21, 2017 - June 25, 2017
Much closer to Shepton Mallet than the name would suggest.
an arm and a perfectly manicured leg

Find the @cartoonkate marquee next to the Speaker's Forum in the Green Futures Field. The dress code, is, of course, small denim jeans shorts and hunter wellies on the Thursday. These are to not be worn later than Saturday, in case your leg hairs grow back. This only applies to the men. Only hedge fund managers on corporate hospitality tickets need attend. Can you tell that I'm getting a little jaded about Glastonbury and might corner you and regale you…

I dunno. Probably loads.

I will be sticking up a stonking new exhibition at Shambala Festival this year, next to the Rebel Soul marquee. See you in a sunny field. Cheers... don't mind if I do.
